OVERVIEW
Launched in 2019, the KTT Project is a flagship initiative of Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG) focused on addressing three critical and interconnected social challenges: kidnapping, teenage pregnancy, and tramadol/drug abuse among young people in Ghana.
These issues continue to pose significant threats to the safety, health, and future of young people, particularly girls and vulnerable youth. Rising cases of kidnapping, increasing rates of teenage pregnancy, and the widespread abuse of substances such as tramadol highlight the urgent need for sustained intervention and public education.
The KTT Project responds to these challenges through a nationwide sensitization approach that empowers individuals and communities with knowledge, awareness, and practical strategies to prevent these social vices. By combining advocacy, education, and community engagement, the initiative promotes safer environments and supports the protection and development of young people.
Key Activities
1. Nationwide Sensitization Campaigns
The project organizes outreach programmes in schools and communities across Ghana, delivering targeted education on the risks and prevention of kidnapping, teenage pregnancy, and drug abuse.
2. Media Engagement and Public Education
KTT leverages radio, television, and digital platforms to disseminate information, raise awareness, and influence public attitudes and behaviours on key social issues.
3. Community Forums and Stakeholder Dialogues
The initiative facilitates discussions among community leaders, parents, educators, and stakeholders to encourage collective action and strengthen community-based prevention efforts.
4. Distribution of Educational Materials
Informational resources on human rights, personal safety, and health are developed and distributed to reinforce campaign messages and support continuous learning.
