Human Rights Reporters Ghana Admitted as Full Member of World Patients Alliance

Membership strengthens HRRG’s commitment to patient rights, health advocacy and human dignity.

Accra, Ghana — August 9, 2026: Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG) has been officially admitted as a Full Member of the World Patients Alliance (WPA), marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s growing engagement in global human rights, health advocacy and patient empowerment.

The admission was formally communicated to HRRG by the World Patients Alliance on behalf of its Board of Directors, following the approval of the organisation’s membership application.

The World Patients Alliance is a global platform committed to strengthening the voice of patients and advancing patient empowerment and engagement, improved access to healthcare, safe and innovative treatment, and patient-centered healthcare.

For HRRG, the new membership represents an opportunity to further strengthen the organisation’s work at the intersection of human rights, healthcare, social justice, media advocacy and community empowerment.

As a human rights advocacy organisation, HRRG believes that access to quality healthcare, respect for human dignity and meaningful participation in decisions affecting people’s wellbeing are fundamental components of the broader human rights agenda.

A Platform for Greater Collaboration

Commenting on the membership, HRRG welcomed the opportunity to join the WPA global community and contribute to efforts aimed at ensuring that patients and communities are empowered and their voices heard.

The organisation said the membership would provide opportunities for knowledge-sharing, networking, collaboration and engagement with patient organisations, healthcare stakeholders, civil society actors, policymakers, communities and other partners across Ghana, Africa and the wider international community.

HRRG also looks forward to contributing its experience in human rights reporting, public education, advocacy and community engagement to conversations and initiatives aimed at promoting more inclusive and people-centered healthcare.

Showcasing HRRG’s Global Engagement

As part of the membership, HRRG has been invited to showcase its affiliation with the World Patients Alliance through the official WPA Member Logo on its website and social media platforms.

HRRG will also have opportunities to share relevant organisational activities and upcoming events with the WPA for possible promotion through the Alliance’s social media platforms, newsletter and website.

The organisation views these opportunities as an important avenue for extending the reach of its advocacy work and connecting its programmes with a wider audience of patients, communities, healthcare providers, policymakers, donors, civil society organisations and other stakeholders.

Strengthening the Patient Voice

HRRG said its membership of the World Patients Alliance aligns with its broader commitment to protecting human rights and ensuring that vulnerable and marginalised voices are not excluded from important conversations affecting their lives and wellbeing.
